Earlier this week Apple announced iOS 6 which is scheduled to ship this fall and contains over 200 new features. While not revolutionary, it does have a number of features that consumers will find useful including Siri, FaceBook, maps and turn by turn navigation.
I was hoping for new features specifically for the enterprise (e.g. full disk encryption). In addition, I'm concerned with the the number of features that won't be available on the original iPad and pre-4S smartphones that will lead to fragmentation. In many ways, iOS 6 was overshadowed by the new MacBook and Mountain Lion announcements. Perhaps Apple will have some stronger mobile announcements in the coming months as part of the rumored iPhone 5 smartphone.
