2008 Year in Review and Looking Ahead to 2009

The IBM CIO global infrastructure team had a productive 2008.   Notes 8 and Lotus Symphony were deployed to end-users and mail servers were upgraded to Domino 8.   The team also upgraded the Sametime instant messaging and web conferencing servers to the latest 8 release in addition to leveraging Sametime Unyte hosted web conferencing service for meetings with external customers and partners.   Early deployments of iNotes including Ultralite and iPhone as well as Lotus Traveler on Symbian were launched to support IBM's growing mobile needs.

Key projects for 2009 include the completion of Lotus Symphony deployment, upgrading Domino application servers to 8.5, Quickr upgrade, world-wide deployment of Lotus Connections and Sametime instant messaging upgrades including connectivity with our external customers and partners.   We'll also continue to explore alternative desktop models in support of IBM's "move to the web" strategy and support of open standards.    2009 promises to be a very busy year and I'll continue to keep you apprised of our progress through this blog.
